Farm by Manjaka

Responsible, productive and high-quality farming.

Building Madagascar’s pig farm of the future

Farm by Manjaka is a pilot pig farm currently in its testing phase. It was created with the vision of developing a modern, digital, responsible and data-driven farming model in Madagascar.

Our objective is to use technology and rigorous farming practices to improve animal monitoring, control production costs and produce clean, traceable and high-quality pork.

A pilot farm currently in its testing phase

Farm by Manjaka is gradually developing and testing its farming methods on a small scale before moving towards larger production.

This pilot phase enables us to:

  • test different feeding methods;
  • regularly monitor pig growth;
  • measure the quantities of feed consumed;
  • calculate actual production costs;
  • improve disease prevention and health monitoring;
  • identify the most effective farming practices;
  • prepare a sustainable and reproducible farming model.

The observations and results obtained during this phase will be used to build a better-organised, more efficient farm adapted to the realities of Madagascar.

Our vision for a digital farm

A digital farm uses data and technology to better understand its operations and make more accurate decisions.

At Farm by Manjaka, all important information should be recorded, accessible and available for analysis:

  • animal identification and origin;
  • weight and growth rate;
  • quantities of feed distributed;
  • farming expenses;
  • vaccinations and treatments;
  • reproductive events;
  • sales and farm profitability.

This approach replaces estimates with measured and verifiable information.

Technology serving livestock farming

Farm by Manjaka uses PigMetric, a digital solution dedicated to pig farm management.

PigMetric makes it possible to:

  • create a record for each animal;
  • record weighings and monitor growth;
  • control feed consumption and costs;
  • schedule vaccinations and treatments;
  • monitor reproduction and litters;
  • analyse expenses, sales and profitability;
  • view the farm’s main performance indicators.

Farm by Manjaka therefore provides a real farming environment in which PigMetric can be tested and continuously improved.

Controlled feeding

Feed represents a major part of the costs and performance of a pig farm. It must be adapted to the age, weight and physiological stage of each animal.

Our approach consists of:

  • measuring the quantities of feed distributed;
  • adapting rations to each growth stage;
  • monitoring changes in animal weight;
  • analysing feed efficiency;
  • testing solutions that use locally available resources;
  • finding the right balance between performance, quality and cost.

Quality, hygiene and traceability

Our ambition is to produce clean, traceable and high-quality pork by improving control over every stage of the farming process.

This approach is based on:

  • identifying and individually monitoring each animal;
  • tracking its origin and history;
  • controlling the feed it receives;
  • recording all care and treatments provided;
  • following strict hygiene rules;
  • regularly cleaning and disinfecting the facilities;
  • carefully managing the arrival and departure of animals.

Traceability makes it possible to better understand the conditions in which each animal was raised.

Animal health and welfare

Animal health is essential to ensure product quality and the long-term sustainability of the farm.

Farm by Manjaka aims to implement:

  • a preventive health programme;
  • regular monitoring of animal health;
  • scheduled vaccinations and deworming;
  • isolation of sick or newly arrived animals;
  • clean, ventilated and suitable housing;
  • permanent access to clean drinking water;
  • farming practices that reduce animal stress.

Experimentation and continuous improvement

Farm by Manjaka is first and foremost a pilot farm. Each trial should provide useful information that can improve farming practices.

The results will be used to:

  • compare different feeding methods;
  • identify factors that influence growth;
  • reduce unnecessary expenses;
  • improve work organisation;
  • strengthen health and biosecurity measures;
  • prepare the farm’s gradual development.

Decisions will be based on results obtained under real farming conditions rather than on assumptions alone.

Training and sharing good practices

In the long term, Farm by Manjaka aims to become a place for experimentation, demonstration and knowledge-sharing around modern pig farming.

Activities may gradually include:

  • demonstrations of how to use PigMetric;
  • training on animal monitoring;
  • workshops on pig feeding;
  • discussions about animal health and biosecurity;
  • training on cost and profitability calculations;
  • sharing results obtained during farm trials.

The objective is to contribute to the professionalisation of pig farming and make good farming practices more accessible to farmers in Madagascar.

Building useful partnerships

Farm by Manjaka wishes to collaborate with partners who share our vision of modern, responsible and sustainable pig farming.

We are open to collaborating with:

  • animal feed manufacturers and suppliers;
  • veterinarians and livestock technicians;
  • laboratories and veterinary product suppliers;
  • agricultural equipment suppliers;
  • training and research institutions;
  • financial institutions;
  • technology companies;
  • investors and development partners.

Partnerships may involve:

  • feed or equipment trials;
  • technical and veterinary support;
  • farmer training;
  • the development of the digital farm;
  • improvements in product traceability;
  • financing the farm’s gradual development.

Our ambition for Madagascar

Farm by Manjaka aims to become a leading pilot pig farm in Madagascar.

Our goal is not only to increase production. We want to build a farming model based on technology, data, health management, traceability and continuous improvement.

Through Farm by Manjaka and PigMetric, we want to demonstrate that it is possible to develop a modern, efficient and responsible pig farm adapted to local realities in Madagascar.
